Avanti

Background

Avanti is a 100% New Zealand owned and operated company designing and manufacturing cycling products including road bikes and mountain bikes. The Avanti brand is synonymous in NZ with quality and reliability and as a brand is becoming ever more prominent in Road and Mountain Bike Racing. Avanti is a household name in New Zealand and is fast becoming a popular brand of bicycle throughout the world with a number of NZ and international athletes riding their product.

The Issues

Avanti has been building Road cycles and Mountain Bikes for years – but not until recently did they identify the need in the market for a Dual Suspension Mountain Bike. The challenge was to design a bike with an aesthetic easily adapted to the XC Race environment or equally the All Mountain riding scenario. Procreate had to consider new manufacturing processes like hydro-formed aluminium frame tubing on order to create a elegant free flowing form whilst retaining all the structural integrity of and Hard Tail Mountain Bike. The bike had to look at home among the best of the Avanti range and be as desirable as any of the worlds other high end Dual Suspension Mountain Bike's available

The Solution

Procreate spent a large amount of time developing alternate aesthetic solutions always considering the mechanical requirements and necessities of the suspension geometry. Such aesthetic sketches were circulated among all the project stakeholders locally and abroad to ensure a bike was created that would appeal to the largest customer base both aesthetically and functionally. And so was born the Vapour and the Torrent – Avanti's first foray into full suspension Mountain Bike design.
