Raceranger at Ironman 70.3 World Champs

It’s always a great feeling to see products we’ve helped develop making an impact on the world stage.

Over the weekend, RaceRanger played a crucial role in monitoring and enforcing drafting rules during the bike stage of the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Nice, France.

The icing on the cake was seeing Kiwi Hayden Wilde take an incredible win, followed closely by a storming performance from Kristian Blummenfelt.

Cool NZ tech, world-class athletic performance, and a pretty special result.

Boundaryline Spacers

Not all projects need to be large and complex to add genuine value.

Boundaryline asked Procreate to help improve their storage and transport efficiency while reducing product damage and packaging waste. The solution was simple - a handful of product specific spacers that securely hold their pre-assembled fence panels and replace the metres of single use bubble wrap previously used.

Procreate helped Boundaryline by refining the proposed concept and making further efficiency improvements. The team identified ways to reduce material usage and manufacturing costs while also increasing product strength. Additional features were incorporated to make production more efficient and scalable. 3D printed prototype spacers were created for testing the design before they were signed off for tooling and mass production.

The spacer system allows more panels to be loaded onto each pallet, delivering almost a 30% improvement in pallet utilisation. This has reduced both freight costs and warehouse storage requirements. The project supported Boundaryline with their sustainability goals by replacing large amounts of bubble wrap with a durable and recyclable spacer solution. In addition to reducing packaging waste, the spacers provide consistent panel separation and improved protection during transport.

RaceRanger Gen3 hits the race course

It has been fantastic to see early units of the revised RaceRanger making appearances during recent races.

RaceRanger is a real-time drafting detection system designed for triathlon and cycling races. It uses sensors and on-bike lights to clearly indicate when athletes are within the legal drafting distance, helping competitors stay compliant without relying solely on referees.

Procreate was brought onboard to work with RaceRanger to develop the 3rd generation of the draft sensor unit. Extensive waterproofing and stability testing was undertaken in house to deliver a robust and reliable design.

The Procreate team is proud to have delivered production units for tight deadlines toward being utilised for key race days.

FLOCK OF CHAMPIONS

Procreate are proud to see the Flock of Champions public art installation unveiled in Masterton to kick off the 2026 Golden Shears sheep shearing and Woolhandling Championship.
The group of sheep sculptures have been painted by local Masterton artists to celebrate the diverse nations competing at the event.

Procreate worked closely with Masterton Trust Lands Trust to design the geometric fiberglass sheep canvases that were then produced by Bootleg design.

The team has enjoyed working on this project and are thrilled to see the sheep brought to life by the artists and now out in the open for everyone to enjoy.

3D Printing

One of the many benefits of our new studio space has been having the space to expand the scale of our in-house 3D printing operation. The additional FDM and SLA resin machines on site allow the team to produce parts without the delay of working with external suppliers. For clients this means more responsive and frequent prototyping during the design process with printers suited to a range of required outcomes from ready to paint fine finishes and tiny details all the way to large fast prints for verifying the fit of existing components.

We are now also able to open up our 3D printing service to new clients. Whether you simply want a hand producing parts of your own design or want the full design process - Procreate can give life to your ideas.

A process engineer turned professional triathlete, Jack brings eight years of elite performance experience back to the engineering world. In his previous Engineering positions Jack has spent time at Fisher and Paykel and Jaguar in the UK. He thrives on efficiency, innovation, and pushing boundaries—whether in design or sport.

Procreate would like to welcome Upesh Patel to the team. Upesh brings over 25 years of experience in product development, project management, and leadership across a diverse range of industries, including home appliances (Fisher & Paykel), industrial machinery (Compac/Tomra), and bathroom fixtures (Methven). Throughout his career, he has played a key role in delivering award-winning products, including those recognized with Best and Red Dot awards.

Additionally with 4 years of experience in a product design consultancy environment, Upesh has developed a strong skill set in both project and client relationship management, balancing strategic oversight with hands-on operational leadership.

Upesh’s expertise spans product design, process improvement, and financial oversight, making him a key player in managing and delivering projects on time and within budget.
