Boundaryline asked Procreate to help improve their storage and transport efficiency while reducing product damage and packaging waste. The solution was simple - a handful of product specific spacers that securely hold their pre-assembled fence panels and replace the metres of single use bubble wrap previously used.
Procreate helped Boundaryline by refining the proposed concept and making further efficiency improvements. The team identified ways to reduce material usage and manufacturing costs while also increasing product strength. Additional features were incorporated to make production more efficient and scalable. 3D printed prototype spacers were created for testing the design before they were signed off for tooling and mass production.
The spacer system allows more panels to be loaded onto each pallet, delivering almost a 30% improvement in pallet utilisation. This has reduced both freight costs and warehouse storage requirements. The project supported Boundaryline with their sustainability goals by replacing large amounts of bubble wrap with a durable and recyclable spacer solution. In addition to reducing packaging waste, the spacers provide consistent panel separation and improved protection during transport.
